Complaint: Let’s not use wine in the Lord’s Supper as it could stumble a brother or sister in the faith and cause them to sin!
Response: The Lord Jesus Christ left His church two blessed sacraments:
1) The Lords Supper,
2) Baptism
The Supper is holy. May it never be said that partaking of the sacrament is capable of causing one to sin. To consider that the supper could cause one to stumble into sin is to say that the supper has an evil characteristic. The supper is holy. It is communicative. The gates of Heaven spring wide open in the partaking of it. It is the gospel laid bare, held in the hands of God’s people to unite to each other and our savior. Communion is exactly what it implies; Christ and the bride meet in a peculiar way that happens at no other time than at this moment.
