Semper Reformanda

“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force,” (Matt. 11:12).

Our modus operandi at Semper Reformanda is to faithfully endeavor to reform the Church of Christ, according to the Holy Word of God.

In this age of relativism, complacency and universalism, we have vowed to rightfully reject all things contrary to the word of God and plant our flag in protest to serve the Lord Christ as faithful soldier in his church militant.

We pray that your time here is profitable to your soul.

“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints…And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,” (Ephesians 1:17-19).

The Battle Cry

Semper Reformanda – our cry is “always reforming.” The church must continually re-examine itself in order to maintain its purity of doctrine and practice.

The battle cry of the United States Marines is “Semper Fidelis”. Defined, this means “Forever Faithful”. If you have ever met a Marine, you are well aware that they are a different breed. Their standard of conduct, their dress code and their readiness to protect the homeland places them shoulders above the rest. They have vowed to die if need be!

Let it be said that we Christians, we whom have been engrafted into Christ Jesus (Eph. 1:6), whom have been given the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38), whom have no longer a fear of death and dying (1 Cor. 15:55), whom have an eternal home (2 Cor. 5:1), where even now, mansions are being built for us to reside in glory forever with Him whom has died for us; that we will finish the race with power and joy, with the ultimate goal of glorifying Him, our beloved King!

Following Scripture

“On this I take my stand. I can do no other. God help me.” – Martin Luther

Taking Our Stand on the Word

Our conscience is held captive by the Holy Word of God. We have no choice; there is no turning back and no compromise.

Our battle cry here at Semper Reformanda is much like the cry of the Marines; “Forever Faithfully Reforming”. We will die for the cause if need be. Martin Luther said it best when he was questioned before the Diet of Worms. Luther said, “Your Imperial Majesty and Your Lordships demand a simple answer. Here it is, plain and unvarnished. Unless I am convicted [convinced] of error by the testimony of Scripture or (since I put no trust in the unsupported authority of Pope or councils, since it is plain that they have often erred and often contradicted themselves) by manifest reasoning, I stand convicted [convinced] by the Scriptures to which I have appealed, and my conscience is taken captive by God’s word, I cannot and will not recant anything, for to act against our conscience is neither safe for us, nor open to us. On this I take my stand. I can do no other. God help me.” Much like Steven Curtis Chapman sings, we must burn the ships. In the spring of 1519, Cortez and his crew set sail from Spain to the new land. When the going got tough, many of the crew requested that they head back to the life they knew; a life of comfort and ease. Cortez replied, we have come this far by faith, let the ships burn! We Christians must fix our faces like flint. We must place our hands upon the plow and not look back. There is nothing there friend. Christ is our hope. Is he precious to you my friend? Does life and it’s frivolities draw you away or nigh unto Him whom is able to even cast thy soul into flames for eternity?
