Is the church called to judge it’s people?

Think Matt 18; How would the church be a church if it didn’t practice judgement? It would cease being a church. One of the three marks that make a church a church is discipline; discipline is a form of judgement.

Is the individual Christian to judge his brother?

This as well falls under Matt 18; Notice what it says are the steps to follow when a brother is in sin:

Matt. 18:15   “Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that “by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ 17 And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.

Here are some various verses on judging:

John 7:24 Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”

Phil 1:9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; 10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;

1 Cor 2:15 But he that is spiritual ljudgeth all things, yet he himself is ljudged of no man.

Rom. 2:27 And will not the physically uncircumcised, if he fulfills the law, judge you who, even with your written code and circumcision, are a transgressor of the law?

1Cor. 5:12   For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside?

1Cor. 6:2 Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?

1Cor. 11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.

Matt 7:16 You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. 18 A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.
